How does CPENet Work & General Help!
Some History and Who We Are CPENet was the first distance education provider to offer MIT certified, continuing education credit on the Web. In 1994 when we started, many of our students overseas and in the United States did not have separate word processing applications and so we chose to deliver our courses via e-mail. We had only one payment option which was for the student to mail his or her tuition payment to our post office box. Over the years the look and feel of our site has constantly changed. Today we offer more lectures than ever we are constantly adding the new and dropping the old. We try to keep our lectures up-to-date to mirror current issues and concerns but we also limit the number so the student isnt overwhelmed. Our students, in twelve countries, can now register for one or for any number of our lectures, on-line at the same time.Since we keep full records on each of our students ( by our affiliate, MIT's Global On-Line University) any of our students can request, at anytime, a free transcript of all the lectures he or she has ever taken with us. This can be a help at reporting time when youve waited until the last minute (as many of us have) to report your hours to a State Chapter or professional organization.
We are currently in process of setting up to provide our students the option of paying their tuition with VISA and/or MasterCard using secure Cybercash technology.But the vision of our Editorial Board has remained consistent from the beginning we are an all volunteer, non-profit organization, with only one mission. We want to offer our students, who for one reason or another (physical distance or location, job related travel, down-sizing, dumb-sizing, reduced training and travel budgets, etc.) cannot obtain traditional training, a worthwhile continuing education and skills updating experience at a reasonable cost. Whatever monies we take in as tuition are expended on new
lecture development and to cover the cost of operating this site.
So Who Uses CPENet?
The bulk of our students come to us through our connection with Global On-Line University (an international, distance education consortium of affiliated colleges and universities). Although students with every professional certification have taken our courses, many are certified as financial professionals (CPAs, CIAs, CISAs, CFEs and CGFAs). CPENet hosts the website of the Central Virginia Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.Many of our students are enrolled in colleges and universities affiliated with Global On-Line University who take our lectures for undergraduate and graduate credit in connection with various degree programs.
CPENet is for anyone looking for a fast, convenient way to obtain continuing education credit or who just wishes to hone skills in the areas of fraud examination, finance, accounting, auditing, data processing controls, and general management. We have had continuing education students in the United States, Europe, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and in Japan and China attend our lectures.HOW DO I TAKE A CPENet LECTURE?
All CPENet lectures are download by the student in Adobe PDF format.Taking one or more of our lectures is a very simple, three step process.
First, select your lecture or lectures from our on-line Catalog. You can also get to the complete catalog from the menu on our homepage and/or you can look at the lectures available under the various subject areas listed on the homepage.
Second, you Register and pay for you lecture on-line. Each lecture listed in the catalog has a link beside it to take you to the registration page. Select you lecture from the pull down box on the registration page and fill in the information to register. The last step in the registration process is payment. We will receive your registration by e-mail and send you a confirmation of your registration. When you submit your registration, you will see an on-screen confirmation message that our server has sent us the e-mail. Some hours later you will receive a second e-mail confirmation of your registration from us. The CPENet site is manned early in the morning (before 6:00 A.M. eastern standard time) and then after 6:00 P.M. in the evening). Third, on the registration page select a method of payment for your course. You can pay on line using a secure MasterCard or Visa transaction We will be sent a notification that your card payment has processed and we will immediately e-mail a link from which you can download the lecture and a password you will need to open it. You should have your download link and password in no more than six hours after your payment processes.Fourth, when you receive your course material, read it. Click on the hyperlink on our homepage to the Quizzer page. Find the name of your course and click on it. This will take you to the quizzer page for the course you are taking. Answer the questions in the form and when you are finished, click on the submit button. Your questions are graded automatically and we will e-mail you a digitally signed certficate of completion within a few hours.
Thats all there is to it.
We will maintain a record of your completed CPE and will e-mail
you a transcript of the courses you have taken with us at any time for free.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
If you are dissatisfied with your CPENet course for any reason, we will refund your tuition less the bank's processing fee (if you have elected to charge your course using a credit card). Of course, we will not be able to grant course credit in the event of a refund of tuition. All we ask is that you destroy the course material in your possession. If you have paid for a course and then decide you do not want to take it, we will refund your tuition, again, less the bank's processing fee if you have used a credit card.
