CPENet Audio PowerPoint Lectures in Adobe
PDF
What's an Audio Enabled Adobe PDF?
An audio enabled Adobe PDF is a PDF file with audio
content embedded. As the student moves from slide to slide in the lecture PDF, s/he clicks on a speaker
icon (in a red square) beside the slide title. The lecture audio then plays.
What's necessary to listen to these
lectures?
Since the MP3 audio is embedded in the body of the PDF,
CPENet Audio PowerPoint lectures are large...not
large by high speed internet standards, but large for someone with a dial up
connection. The lectures
are 50 to
150 KB depending upon the complexity of the lecture topic. A student with
access to a DSL,
broadband
or high speed internet connection at home or at work can download one of
these lectures
for listening in about 10 minutes. A student with dial up access only (58.8 baud modem)
might require 1 to 2
hours to
download the same lecture.
Listening to the lecture also requires a copy of the Adobe Reader 8.0
(downloadable for free from
http://www.adobe.com
), and a sound card and
speakers.
How does the process of listening to
one of these lectures work?
The student registers for an audio lecture in the same way
s/he registers for one of our non-audio lectures.
Go
to our registration page and register for the lecture by number. Then
proceed to pay for your lecture
using PayPal.
When we have received notification from PayPal that you have paid for your
lecture, we will
e-mail and fax you
the password to open the lecture from our download page.
When you click on the
download link you will be asked if you want to Run or Save the
document.
Click Save. The lecture will be
downloaded to your PC; when you open it,
you will be asked for a password.
Enter the password you
were e-mailed.
At the lecture's Introductory slide, click on the speaker
in the red
rectangle appearing beside the slide's title.
Be sure you speakers are on and you should begin to hear
the audio portion of the lecture. Adobe may ask you
to download an
additional piece of software. If it does,
download and install it...the
lecture should then play.
When you have finished listening to the lecture, proceed to our quizzer page, find your lecture by number,
and
answer the questions on the lecture that you find there. We will grade your submitted answers and e-mail and
fax you a copy of your certificate of completion.
How many audio enabled lectures are
currently available?
The audio lectures listed below are the only ones
currently available. We have a dozen more currently under
development, so continue to check this page for new lectures which will be
offered as soon as they are ready.

Lecture Number: 154
Lecture Title: Fraud Awareness Auditing
Lecture Description: External Auditors, Forensic Accountants,
Internal Auditors and Fraud Examiners
each
have varying responsibilities for the detection and reporting of frauds they
encounter during the course of their
work. Fraud Examiners and Forensic Accountants are usually only called in
when the presence of fraud is
a certainty or highly suspected. CPA's and Internal Auditors have a
responsibility to detect fraud during their
examinations if there is a reasonable expectation that the fraud would have been
detected by a competent
auditor exercising the due care and the normal procedures of the audit.
Both the external and internal auditor
must be aware of the red flags of fraud on every engagement and plan their work
accordingly. exercising
"professional skepticism" every step of way. This lecture covers the fraud
related responsibilities of each of
these types of auditors, presents the red flags of employee and management
fraud, and details the requirements
for fraud reporting. It also includes the steps each type of auditor is
required to take when an actual fraud is
discovered.

Lecture Title: Introduction to Information
Systems Auditing
Lecture Description: External
Level of Difficulty: There is scarcely an audit performed today
that does not involve some degree of
auditor interaction with information systems. Financial Auditors, Internal
Auditors, Fraud Examiners and
Forensic Accountants are all involved, to one degree or another with auditing
either the computer system
itself or information contained in systems files and most often with both. This
at a time when Information
Systems Auditors are often as scarce as hen's teeth. In these circumstances it
behooves every auditor to
know something about information systems auditing if only so as to do a better
job of describing systems
related issues to the experts. This lecture targets those who need a good
introduction to information
systems auditing. How is the computer used most effectively by the
auditor? What is the difference between
auditing around, through and with the computer? What kind of approaches can
every auditor do on her own
and which require the use of experts?
Number of CPE's: 2 CPE - 100 minutes of
self study plus 20 minutes to answer ten questions for a total of 120
minutes.
